How 'MAXXXINE' Let The 80s Guide The A24 Trilogy To The Finish Line | Feat. Ti West, Halsey, & More
'MAXXINE' closes out the 'X' trilogy in a delightfully bloody fashion. Writer / Director Ti West is joined by actors Elizabeth Debicki, Lily Collins, and Halsey to discuss how the 80s film aesthetic, along with an analog production approach, helped drive their performances and the overall narrative of the film.

I'd rather of seen Andy on a new speed boat with a couple of gorgeous blonds sipping champagne with red walking towards him rubbing his hands. All that money and he's sanding a woodworm infested wreck.
The best movie ever. Hands down. Or at least 90's upward
Such a great film 👏🏽
When the cop asked , What do you guys want?,
Stupid move. The original ending is about hope.
and for once the execs were right. It is one of the most beautiful endings of any movie, ever!
I think Frank is right
The greatest movie ever made.
The happy ending is what tied the film together as a masterpiece, and solidified its themes. I wager if it didn't have that, it wouldn't be quite as well-regarded.
My uncle auditioned for this role. He of course didn’t get the part. What I think is funny is how my grandma took my uncle and my dad to see ET like 3 times. Kinda like “hey this could’ve been you” lol
Hm. I prefer the book’s ending
Should have kept Frank on TWD. Such a great director
We needed the reunion so that was a great finish. I would've been pissed if there was no reunion. They were correct and got a holiday ❤ 👏👏👏
A classic ,and timeless story.
He is still so handsome and sweet. ❤
Kinda wish they had kept the original ending.
GREAT MOVIE ❤
That's too friggin cool
ZIHUATANEJO - The place of no memories.
It had a great ending which makes you think the movie was great. The truth is, it was rather boring up until the end.
It is an unforgettable movie❤️ one of my favourites.😊
yes it was good to bring them together at the end....but shows they know nothing about boating...that whole part was just well....stupid...
Thank god Frank didn’t refuse to shoot that ending. It’s one of the best endings ever.
What a wonderful animation to commemorate this moment in history! Props to the animators for framing this so beautifully! ❤ One of my favorite songs in animated media, as well. Straight from my childhood!
I usually don’t like a happy ending. But the studio was right. After all that hell, we need a glimpse into heaven at the end.
“Can’t wait to see my friend and shake his hand”…drops everything and embraces him! Beautiful
I love the ending!!!!
Saint Croix is rather lovely
All time classic 🎥
His name is Louis Prima? Nobody is more perfect than him 😂
Very rare time when the studio was correct
love the ending
If we only knew how many times the suits/execs saved movies or made them better with simple suggestions. We always hear about them ruining movies because the artists usually throw them under the bus publicly.
Stephen King was perhaps ahead of his time in favouring ambiguity. If that can be said, the eventual over-use of open-ends and subsequent obsession with the dark has me longing for more good old-fashioned happy endings.
Can't find the entire interview. Please someone share the link.
Any time this movie is aired, I watch it. No matter where in the film I happen on to it. This and "The Green Mile." Powerful storytelling wins every time. ❤️
The ending of the Film delivered a powerful message of Hope, Gratefulness and Love of a True Friendship!
And....a wonderful ending it was!
Sometimes I think the smartest ending to a film is to leave it open ended…I think Red being out of prison and not committing suicide like Brooks was satisfying in itself..I didn’t mind him walking on the beach to Andy though
This might be my favorite movie ever
And “modern audiences” hate this classic, my grandkids love it tho
That ending was beautiful - Red joining his good friend Andy in a heaven on earth.
Good choice.
What freakin great film!!! So well acted and a great story!
The original ending, Darabont said elsewhere, was faithful to the King's story because the whole story was about hope, not its fulfillment. Which I get thematically. But come on. We needed that new ending.
I read the Stephen King story first. I recall him finding the package at the stone wall. But I can't recall how it actually ended. I need to find the story again. I, unfortunately, no longer have my personal library of books.
As fantastic an ending the theatrical release had, I believe the original ending would have been more true to the ethos of the story. The central theme is hope, and ending the movie on that word would have been appropriate.
There are guys like Andy. You mess with them and you find out they set you up from the beginning.
One of the best endings to one of the best movies!
The only film ive ever watched; then immediately watched again. Terrific ending too
